Bismillah. You do know that in an Islamic state, you are not allowed to publicise your sin? (Algeria is not an Islamic state in the true sense, but anyway). That makes it doubly evil of them. If you simply don't wanna obey Allah's commands and fast, drink water in the bathroom and sneak food under your covers like the child you are (not you you, but for the sake of the argument). No one can stop you. The fact is, that is why the act of fasting is so great in Allah's (God) eyes. Only he knows what's in the heart and what people hide. So they obviously aren't sending the message that they were against being forced to fast. No, they are sending the message that it should not be compulsory in Islam.

The article described them as a "new-age" sort of secular group, see... So what they really want is to change the religion of Islam. This is an even greater sin against Allah and against His Prophet (saw) and against His Deen. The people who try to change Allah's religion are destined for Hell and they will deserve punishment here too, in order to deter others (as is the aim of many Shariah punishments).

Imprisonment? Psh, that seems light to me. But maybe they're just idiotic in which case, they'd get a few chances, but innovators (in the religion) and rebellious people are not accepted in an Islamic society because of the mischief they cause.

Lastly, they are really making quite a ridiculous statement when they say, "We called this gathering to denounce the inquisition and persecution of citizens who, because of their beliefs, refuse to observe the fast." No one is persecuted for not fasting, as I said, but people simply have to respect the religion and the society by not eating in public. May Allah guide us, if I made an error it was from myself and if I benefited anyone, it was from Allah.

Come come, now. Let's be civil. It's not like you'd want to disrupt the art if someone's home by taking all their things. Right? Guys?

How does taking dodgeball out of gym class have anything to do with it? In the state of California (where I live), dodgeball =/= exercise, no exercise means it's not in physical education.

It's not a formatting problem, it's just that to link like that on reddit you have to have the Http:// for some reason.
